1 YC Casualty is Tragic. 100 is a Statistic.

by Larry Chiang on May 26, 2015

Larry Chiang is a marketing phenom. He reverse-shoplifted his book to the top of the “New York Times Best Seller” list. Wedging his book at Whole Foods’ Columbus Circle location, premiering a year and a half before, grand opening at NY fashion week runway on “09-09-09” and launching “What They Don’t Teach You At Stanford Business School” is now the new norm at Stanford Engineering. By debuting the book‘s blog posts at Sundance and SXSW film festivals nine months and six months before 09-09-09, respectively, Hollywood had nearly zero choice but to option “#WTDTYASBS”.

But all that talent cannot help this eerie truth: “1 YC Casualty is tragic. 100 is a statistic”.

New York Fashion Week (#NYFW) is where the best brands pay to launch new lines of clothing.

Being well networked, I know a lot of people. A lot of people know me.
So what.

One Stanford startup dying in YC is tragic. 100’s a statistic.

So, what’s important is not that

/1/ I’m popular.
/2/ I’m smart.
/3/ It’s not important that I am hilarious – I put shitake at Harvard to make fun of the Pac12 school I’m an athletic booster at:

And hilarious. Because I connect “Mr Peabody” with Eric Ries, professor Steve Blank and Mark McCormack (Oh yes!, I did have brain power to make it funny cc Sherman and Mr Peabody 😉
What’s important is that YC is 45 startup deaths away from racking up 100. 100 YC startups dying, will be like 1,000,000 Asians during WWII. And no one has uttered a peep for all the Chinese and Russians killed. Just. A. statistic.
Will 100 be just a stat.

I am not down with that.

Distribution. It’s the most thought about issue that VCs fire founders over #DuckCh9Bk duck9.com/blog/venture-c…

#Duck entrepreneurship bankruptcy (#Ch9 Bk) Duck the quiet shutdown and subtle enrollment in a Top 6 business school, like Wharton.

Duck, 9 and maybe listen when 11 YC partners scream “do things that don’t scale (But Have Momentum)”

Stanford Engineering’s, ENGR 145’s 2 anchor videos move your revenue-less startup to the right on the entrepreneur bell curve
At an early age, I learned having a large super brain and being good at sports is not special. There are a lot of people that get recruited to Stanford. (Like Chasson Randle who got recruited to Illinois and Stanford but baseball. And I picked Illinois while he picked Stanford)

Use my large brain to avoid being a premature startup casualty (to quote Engr145 professor, Tom Kosnik). Please study the engr 145 video “Cross the Chasm From the Right”
