California’s Entrepreneurial Education Divide

by Larry Chiang on April 22, 2012

By Larry Chiang

There is a great entrepreneurial divide in California colleges.

I wanted to call this article: ‘Making Poor Kids Richer Too’. You see I am guilty of making rich kids richer. I am an EIR at Stanford University. What that role catalyzes me to do is to stimulate and excite pre-entrepreneurial thoughts.

California has a limited amount of the precious resource called ‘Larry Chiang’. It is incredibly valuable and scarce. It also only prevalent at MIT and Stanford University.

That is changing.

I am now an EIR at University of California. Which one?! UCLA? UCsF

All of them

Yes, even Stanford’s arch nemesis Cal Berkeley. (which is silly)

You see my having such a mega role here at Stanford is a series of Forest Gump like events. 11 cray cray inflection points*. Those 11 coupled with the fact that Stanford has a gravitational pull ( my house is in Atherton and my dorm room is in Palo Alto ). I have five residences as reported to the IRS.

These 11 inflection points coupled with the guilt of picking a different school over Stanford. Stanford heavily, heavily recruited me to play baseball and study engineering. (SOURCE: phone records to Naperville house 708-983-xxxx, invites to camps, two Chinese parents mad as hell about phone calls. and same baseball coach here at Stanford). I did go to a higher ranked engineering undergrad school and at that same highly ranked ENGR school play for the college baseball living legend coach Augie Garrido. # 1 in baseball collegiate wins. True story.

REPORTS THAT AUGIE GARRIDO CAME TO MY SCHOOL TO COACH ME AS A 6’3″ 220 Sporting News Top 50 player are inaccurate. It was COINCIDENCE that he left Cal State Fullerton to come to University of Illinois Urbana Champaign.

I’m bridging the great entrepreneur education divide by – agreeing to be EIR system wife Err system wide at University of California. – removing the copyright for required book and blog readings for ENGR 145. It’s the class I teach at Stanford. This way UC schools can have my book and my blog posts. The other ENGR 145 textbooks are under $200/per and well worth over $10k in knowledge

If u don’t have the money for the books, text me and I’ll lend u the money via the LCRRM

You see, SXSW ranked me #1 in entrepreneur education. I am a natural resource that shouldn’t be just bottled up here at Stanford.

NO THIS DOESN’T INCLUDE THE TECH CONFERENCES ME + 22 OFFER THAT ONLY STANFORD KIDS GET.
