A Silicon Valley Summer of Entrepreneurship

by Larry Chiang on May 11, 2015

By Larry Chiang
As a student, summers were an opportunity to balance classroom smarts with non-school smarts. Real-world smarts via summer sports led me to being curious about street smarts. Street smarts was critical in starting up a small business at engineering school at University of Illinois, Urbana.

Work in Silicon Valley and take a class, #ENGR145, here bit.ly/buster14512c

Engineering 145, Technology Entrepreneurship, is a class that teaches startup concepts by doing and executing a startup.

One the most advanced startup strategies is advocated by Stanford engineering. I summed it up in a 9 minute, 59 second video:
Financial pressure and perceived pressure and pressure you place on yourself will hurt your execution. #ENGR145 used to be pressure packed.

In short, #ENGR145 preaches pressure. Avoid the hard part about the hard parts cc @bhorowitz. Sell downhill w/gravity pic.twitter.com/a5GZnZJcxx

Selling “downhill” is slang for ‘cross the chasm from the right’
Relieve more pressure by pre-studying engineering 145 before you take #ENGR145. In addition to the 2 videos that were 9 minutes 59 seconds, there are 4 books and 3 blog posts to study before you take Engineering 145
