**ACT 1 (Formerly Act 4): THE WANDERING**<\/div>\n

*EXT. ROMAN COLOSSEUM – DAY*<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The roar of the crowd fills the arena. BARABBAS, now older, scarred, and hardened, fights as a gladiator slave. Bloodied sand, beasts, opponents\u2014he dispatches them mechanically, but his eyes are distant, haunted.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Flash cuts: quick glimpses of chains, crucifixion shadows, a woman’s dying face.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
In the gladiator cells at night, Barabbas stares at the wall. He meets CLAUDIA, Pilate’s wife, now a secret Christian convert visiting the prisoners.<\/div>\n

CLAUDIA  <\/div>\n
(whispering)  <\/div>\n
I dreamed of an innocent man years ago. The blood still haunts me. And you… you were there that day.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
BARABBAS  <\/div>\n
(hoarse)  <\/div>\n
I was the one who walked free.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Claudia presses a small cross into his hand. Later, during an arena riot, Barabbas escapes into the chaos, fleeing Rome.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
*EXT. WILDERNESS ROAD – NIGHT*<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Exhausted, he collapses. A vision: PETER, the apostle, appears (or in reality finds him).<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
PETER  <\/div>\n
You are Barabbas. The one released. He died for you that day.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Barabbas is baptized in a stream at dawn.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
PETER  <\/div>\n
You were son of the father. Now become son of the true Father.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
But doubt lingers. Roman patrols hunt escaped gladiators. Barabbas knows his time is short.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
As soldiers close in, he whispers:<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
BARABBAS  <\/div>\n
It began that Passover…<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

The sun beats down on a chaotic crowd. PONTIUS PILATE on the balcony.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
PILATE  <\/div>\n
Whom shall I release? Barabbas… or Jesus, called the Christ?<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
CROWD  <\/div>\n
Barabbas! Release Barabbas!<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Younger BARABBAS, rugged and defiant, smirks in disbelief as his chains fall. Jesus meets his eyes\u2014calm, knowing. Pilate washes his hands.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Barabbas stumbles into the crowd, free. He vanishes into alleys.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
*INT. TAVERN – NIGHT*<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
With comrades JUDAS and LEAH.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
JUDAS  <\/div>\n
The gods\u2014or that preacher’s curse\u2014saved you.<\/div>\n

(uneasy)  <\/div>\n
He looked at me like he chose this.<\/div>\n

Leah urges rebellion. Barabbas hesitates.<\/div>\n

Barabbas watches the crucifixion from afar. Darkness falls; earthquake.<\/div>\n

With bandits led by SILAS. Raids, kills\u2014but spares a boy. Nightmares of Jesus calling him “son.”<\/div>\n

Leah finds him; they share passion, but he pulls away.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Later, secretly meets MARY MAGDALENE.<\/div>\n
