There are four chapters that Malcolm Gladwell did not publish that I readI read them after I wrote them.

Golliath and David and Larry Chiang is the Sequel Book to Malcolm Gladwell’s David and Golliath

I wanted to call the book, “David and Goliath and StartUpery” — it’d be a sequel to David and Goliath“. “David and Goliath and Larry Chiang” has four Live Action Business Case Studies of David’s versus a Goliath.

Chapter 10 (Chap 1-9 are “David and Goliath”)
Confinity takes on Western Union

Hellooooo!! Western Union customers don’t palm pilot each other money so, SCORE ONE MARKET FOR Confinity. Heck, Western Union customers did not even get email because they’re illiterate. Literally! Boom, pay pal

Chapter 11 of “David and Goliath and Larry Chiang” is…
Facebook Poke versus SnapChat
#obvi.
Kappa sigs don’t like to be threatened.

Chapter 12. (Chap 1-9 are “David and Goliath”)
Blockbuster versus Netflix

How can a Goliath mess up mailing out DVDs. Turns out a lot. Plus, Netflix wanted to kill HBO, not BB.

Chapter 13. (Chap 1-9 are “David and Goliath”)
Duck9 versus Fair Isaac. The classic example of CTCFTR when a startup takes on an entrenched monopoly. And wins. CTCFTR is cross the chasm from
the right (it’s the sequel book to Crossing the Chasm that Geoffrey Moore will release in the future?)

Bonus.

Chapter 13 (Chap 1-9 are “David and Goliath”)
Capital One’s non bank bank approach to beating B of A and Citi.
The Live Action Business Case Study of Stanford B-school grad Richard who is ceo of Capital One

It started when an Asian dude turned the World Wide Web into a glorified faxcimilie machine to take consumer applications for Cap One credit cards in 1996. While banking Goliaths were worried of a database connected to the World Wide Web — cap one lead generated apps all day long and had a super long lead with this “innovation”

Yup, CTCFTR-ing works bitchezz
