MIT’s & HBS’ SXSW Party List, 2014 Version

by Larry Chiang on November 22, 2013

By Larry Chiang

I’ve this theory that Boston drives SXSW.

Maybe it’s because Boston and Austin rhyme. Maybe it’s Laura Beck straddling loyalties and making warm connections. Definitely because I’m an EIR. A big part is the fact that I see, saw, and look out for “MIT’s Entrepreneurship Woes– Solved at SXSW”. It is a Yahoo article I wrote: https://www.voices.yahoo.com/mits-entrepreneurship-woes-solved-sxsw-11106384.html

Here are party things to pay attention to and what it means. How it turns out will be applied to better networking for 2014’s SXSW Interactive for entrepreneurs and VCs. Do. Not. Miss.

-1- Austin’s Best in Show Party March 5 – March 6, 2014. The SXSW starts March 7. Best in show will be selected one day prior and two days prior. Disclosure: Undergrad engineers and engineering alums financially benefit and get their trips paid for here, by executing this party. Best in show is like the winner of a hackathon. Any hackathon. You win SXSW a month or three before SXSW.

-2- Best in Show, the SXSW Pre-Party at Lincoln Center, Feb 13 We are meeting in the TRESemme tent, pop-up and we even have a sub hashtag, #TRESmbfwSXSW. Cost = $0 (a small deposit saves your spot in case you no-show, last minute)

-3- What Will Be Best at SXSW 2014, Pre-Party, at Stanford Mall Feb 19, 2014 This will be held during Entrepreneurship Week at Stanford Mall at Nordstron with Alyssa Nordstrom* doing a special talk to ENGR 145-ers. Uber, Highlight, Waze, Plancast, Foodspotting, and SnapChat (Brand) Stories* *Planned by Larry Chiang

-4- Your 11-Minute SXSW Party Yes, do a short party in your home town. If you EUTWMPPM a LTMVP, text me and I’ll send you the comprehensive SXSW party list (a $395 value) yours free.
