Stanford University | UnOfficial Freshman Orientation 2013 NEWS

by Larry Chiang on January 6, 2013

By Larry Chiang

Open to Stanford University freshman and DIRECT friends of those first year undergrads.

How is your freshman year going??!?! It’s nice to meet you via the interwebs. I am Larry Chiang — hi!!

When I say ‘UnOfficial’, what do you think of?! I’m from Naperville Illinois and the spring break in Illinois conflicted with an Illinois tradition: St Patricks Day. Remember, we Chicagoans dye our river green because that’s how much we love St Patricks Day. So, when finals conflicted with spring break, we simply MOVED ST PATRICKS DAY TO A MORE CONVENIENT PARTY DAY.

The new St Pats day is simply “Un-Official”.

Well, “UnOfficial Freshman Orientation” honors that irreverent spirit and is a sequel to the legitimate concept of: “How to Get an Internship the Entrepreneurial Way”. It was held annually until I started guest lecturing at ENGR 145 in 2009. I guess I got big and then they cut me.

Trust me, if I had my way, I’d still be speaking to freshman. Well, January 30 at 655 Knight at 5:45-6:40pm I will resurrect frosh orientation. Look for balloons and RSVP via an email to “Chiang9 @ duck9

I am so hiLarryAss!!

This is when Johny Yangsam was a baby freshman. I think he is one of those that has enough credits to graduate but since he’s on scholarship, why not live and party free in Palo Alto https://johnyangsam.wordpress.com/2010/11/08/bases-talk-by-larry-chiang-silicon-valley’s-“guy-you-should-know”/
