I think of the realtor who sold us the house we are living in now…
We had misgivings about making an offer, after thinking about it for a while, so she called us up one day and said that the owners — an old couple who wanted to retire to a smaller house — had thought we had said yes, and had ALREADY used their life savings to buy their new house, so if we did not buy their current house they would be bankrupted.
So, under pressure, we did make an offer.
Turned out, the house was falling to pieces, just under the surface (discovered that over the next few years).
Turned out, also, that the realtor had been lying: all the evidence pointed to the fact that the owners had not bought their other house. It was all just the realtor’s way to close the sale.
She won “Realtor of the Year” award several years in a row.
