I’m a thought leader on the topic of mentorship because I understand the lows and highs. 
Coach Augie Garrido tried to transfer his knowledge to me. But I was stubborn because I wanted to play shortstop and be a starting pitcher. 

He offered mentorship to become a reliever. I said I wanted more than relief work. Was out of baseball at UIUC in under a year.
