“I grew up super frugal. In fact, I was so frugal that spending money ALWAYS felt like I was giving up a piece of myself. I spent every waking moment trying to avoid spending money and it was giving me anxiety.
So when people ask me what made me want to make a lot of money, here’s the answer:
I wanted to be able to go to a restaurant, get the menu, and not order based on the prices. I wanted to order based on the food.
I know this sounds weird, but the first and only thing I would do was find the cheap things. Or do some mental math and divide the price by the number of calories – more calories per dollar was the goal 🙂
Unfortunately, I still order based on prices. Even while making over $2m net profit per year from my businesses. But, spending is less stressful and I’m much less frugal.
If you’re frugal, know that it’s a valuable trait to have. But it can also severely lessen the quality of your life when taken to an extreme. Go and train yourself to be less frugal – this is something I’m actively prioritizing in my life.
