Tommy O’Rourke is a graduate transfer right-handed pitcher for the Vanderbilt Commodores baseball team in 2025, having previously played at Stanford University. Originally from West Orange, New Jersey, he attended Seton Hall Prep, where he was a highly ranked prospect (No. 3 RHP in NJ). At Stanford, he was a key bullpen contributor in 2021 and 2022, appearing in 55 games with a 4.26 ERA, 60 strikeouts, and 36 walks over 57 innings, and was part of two Pac-12 championship teams (2022, 2023). Injuries sidelined him for the 2023 and 2024 seasons, leading to his transfer to Vanderbilt.
At Vanderbilt, O’Rourke has shown promise despite limited action, earning his first win as a Commodore against UC Irvine (Feb. 16, 2025) and pitching 2.0 scoreless innings in relief against UConn (March 2, 2025). Head coach Tim Corbin praises his maturity, preparation, and team-oriented mindset, likening him to an additional coach. O’Rourke, standing 6-2 and weighing 211 pounds, brings significant experience to a young Vanderbilt bullpen, with 55 career appearances surpassing any pitcher on the 2024 roster. His addition is seen as a strategic move to bolster the team’s pitching staff, provided he regains his pre-injury form.[](vucommodores.com/roster/tommy-orourke/)[](www.tennessean.com/story/sports/college/vanderbilt/2024/06/10/tommy-orourke-vanderbilt-baseball-transfer-commit-stanford-pitcher/74049416007/)[](vanderbilthustler.com/2024/06/11/baseball-vandyboys-get-second-portal-commitment-from-pitcher-tommy-orourke/)
