Discussion for baseball dudes.
Why?
When a player like David Eckstein (5’6-170) has extraordinary success, you have to figure out the why. Below power, below arm strength, average runner, average MLB bat speed, dynamic fielder (why was he a dynamic fielder?).
Eckstein had extraordinary overall innate baseball timing. Rarely swung and missed, and feet-hands were timed up routinely defensively, made getting the good hop look like child’s play.
What do you think contributed to Eckstein having some of the best innate timing to ever play the game?
Eckstein walked on at Florida, signed with the Red Sox for a thousand bucks, as a roster filler, and ended up playing 10 years in the Big Leagues. 982 fielder, 280 hitter, MVP, All Star and World Champion.
