You’re on a ship. You notice there’s a fire. Clearly a fire on a ship is not a good thing, but it appears manageable and the ship’s leaders appear competent and motivated to fix the problem. The fire grows larger. The ship’s leaders start to appear incompetent and perhaps not even interested in fixing the problem. In fact you see some of them might actually be interested in growing the fire. It’s unclear if or when the fire might grow large enough to sink the ship, but it’s clear enough that this is heading in a bad direction.
You mention your concerns to others on the ship, but very few people care to listen.
Seeing all this, you eventually find a lifeboat and get yourself, your family, and some friends off the ship.
