Subject: Stanford Alumni Tailgate Final Details

Stanford Rose Bowl Tailgate

Dear Stanford Alumni Tailgate Registrants,

Thank you for registering for the Stanford at the Rose Bowl Game Official Alumni Tailgate. The following information will help you prepare for the tailgate and your trip to the Rose Bowl Game.

Stanford at the Rose Bowl Game Official Alumni Tailgate

January 1, 2014
10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Brookside Golf Course Lot 2

Look for the Stanford Alumni Association weather balloon to find the tailgate!

The tailgate will be outdoors, and will take place rain or shine, so please dress accordingly. The event is about a 10 minute walk north of the Rose Bowl Stadium and will include a one-time-through buffet (meal ticket required) and all you can drink beer, wine, specialty cocktails, and sodas. There will be fun for all ages, including an appearance by The Incomparable Leland Stanford Junior University Marching Band.

Please note: Due to traffic and congestion, guests who are planning to attend the Rose Parade are unlikely to arrive at the tailgate until near the end of the event. Please plan accordingly to avoid disappointment.

Stanford Alumni Tailgate Information:

All guests attending the event must have an official tailgate ticket to enter. The top tear-off portion of your tailgate ticket is also your one-time-through meal voucher. You will be required to present it at the food tent.

Tickets were mailed via 2-Day FedEx to the primary registrant (the person who purchased the tickets) and will be delivered the week of December 23.

If you have not received your tickets, please track your package at FedEx and  email alumnievents@stanford.edu or call 650-724-3549. Please note the tracking number is specific to your tailgate tickets — not your football game tickets. If you purchased Rose Bowl Game tickets through Stanford Athletics, email athletictickets@stanford.edu or call 1-800-STANFORD for more information.

Please note your credit card statement will show ConfREG (American Express) or Event Fee (Visa/MasterCard) as the description for your tailgate ticket(s). If you have any questions regarding your credit card charges, contact support@cardinalbowltailgate.com.

If you plan to enjoy alcoholic beverages at the tailgate, please be prepared to show proper identification and obtain a wristband at one of the ID Check tents inside the tailgate. California Law requires that all guests consuming alcoholic beverages at public events have proper identification with them at all times.

Cell phone reception at the Rose Bowl Game and surrounding area is known to be somewhat unreliable; texting may be a better option to communicate with friends and family. It is strongly recommended that you plan tailgate meeting points in advance. Zones will be designated by class decades.

General Parking Information

Visit the Rose Bowl Game Parking and Transportation webpage: Rose Bowl Game Parking and Transportation.

Please do not underestimate the time it will take to arrive at the tailgate. Traffic congestion is considerable on game day and parking is very limited at Rose Bowl Stadium; please consider carpooling or using public transportation and arriving early. Public transportation becomes congested after the Rose Parade ends at 10:00 a.m. If you prefer to walk to the stadium, it is a two mile walk from Memorial Park Station in Pasadena.

A Rose Bowl Game Parking Pass ($40 onsite) is required for every vehicle, including motorcycles. Cars are parked on a first-come, first-served basis. Once you exit the parking lot, you will be required to pay the full parking fee upon re-entry.

Driving Directions

To ensure that you park as close to the Stanford Alumni Tailgate as possible, the Tournament of Roses recommends the following route: Set your GPS to the intersection of Arroyo Blvd. and Windsor Ave. – do NOT set your GPS to the Rose Bowl Stadium as the Rose Parade causes MANY road closures; Take the 210 Freeway (from East or West of Pasadena); Exit Arroyo Blvd./Windsor Ave.; Travel south on Arroyo to Rosemont and turn right; Follow directional signs to the Rose Bowl Stadium. You will be directed to park in the closest available parking lot to the Stanford Alumni Tailgate. The later you arrive, the farther away you will likely have to park from the tailgate location.

Getting to the Stadium from the Stanford Alumni Tailgate

The closest entry to the Rose Bowl Stadium from the Stanford Tailgate is through Gate D. See stadium map. Please allow at least 30 minutes to get into the stadium due to heavy pedestrian traffic. We strongly recommend reading the stadium policies to prepare for your trip. Plan to travel lightly, with bags no larger than 14″ x 14″, and lock prohibited items in your car before you come to the tailgate.

ADA Parking at the Rose Bowl Stadium

Parking for disabled guests is immediately adjacent to the Rose Bowl Stadium in lots “B”, “D” and “F”. All vehicles entering these parking lots must display a valid ADA placard. Disabled guest parking opens at 4:00 a.m. and is $40 (onsite) per car. Rose Bowl Stadium does not operate shuttles from ADA lots to the alumni tailgates or to the stadium and does not allow for drop-offs at the stadium or at the tailgate due to restrictive traffic patterns.

Rose Bowl Stadium will provide a limited number of golf cart shuttles from the Stanford Tailgate to the stadium. These golf carts will pick up outside the main entrance gate of the Stanford Tailgate and drop off in lot “D”, adjacent to the stadium. These golf carts will only service disabled guests. Guests should anticipate that waiting for a golf cart may take as long as or longer than walking to the stadium directly.

Please review the Rose Bowl Stadium Disabled Access Guide for more information.
