How Do You Go From Waitlist To VIP as a Stanford Engineering, Female, Pre-Founder?

by Larry Chiang on March 2, 2017

By Larry Chiang
Networking sans your Stanford pedigree is CRITICAL. Be like legendary female Stanford founders and hide your pedigree.
Rational: Exercise an identity outside of the bubble by standing on your own. Set aside the Stanford pedigree helps you practice what it’s like for every other regular, non Stanford engineering, female. Executing “going from waitlist to VIP” will help you be street smart.
The cliche hyperbole stereotypical theme is that Stanford engineers are very book smart but not very street smart.
Plan your protocol for “going from waitlist to VIP” at this VC event at *#theBattery*

[unedited] Hi Everyone,

Thank you for registering for the founders drinks. We have had an overwhelming amount of interest for this event and now have a long wait list.

Unfortunately, we have a strict number limit of attendees for this event.

Due to this being a founder event, we are going to move founders off the wait list.

Non founders will receive a cancelled ticket notification and will be moved to our wait list.

We are also asking that if you are not 100% committed to attending that you let us know so we can give your ticket to someone on the wait list.

Thank you!!
