John W. Ratcliff on “Satoshi Nakamoto” DJ’ing API’s

by Larry Chiang on February 19, 2024

Satoshi did not invent:
* Proof of Work
* Elliptic key signatures
* Hash functions
* Checksums
* Linked lists
* Variable length integers
* Script code
* Fixed point math
* Peer to peer networking
* PD controllers
These API’s make up the technology in bitcoin.
So, please, stop giving him credit for either basic pieces of technology, or the more advanced pieces as well.
The blockchain is a linked list. Mining is proof of work invented by @adam3us
The difficulty adjustment? A basic PD controller.
It’s mostly basic stuff.
Satoshi’s genius was putting all of those pieces together to create the bitcoin network. And that is his genius. The sum of the parts, but not the parts themselves.
