Program Launch & Access:

The video modules will be available on the Recorded Content page beginning on January 7, 2025, through July 31, 2025. The videos will be password protected, and participants will receive the password upon registration. There is no cost to register for this program.

Program Format:

  • Lectures: This is a self-paced online program. Content is delivered through a series of recorded video modules taught by distinguished Stanford faculty, lawyers, and responsible AI thought leaders from the private sector. Lectures will explore how AI technologies work, the opportunities, risks, and oversight of AI technologies, as well as key areas for due diligence that VC firms should prioritize with respect to AI companies.
  • Case Studies: The program will include a few case studies that explore how organizations and thought leaders are approaching responsible and ethical use of AI technologies.
  • Interviews: The program will include board member and institutional investor interviews on topics such as AI education and training, AI governance, and stakeholder engagement around AI.
  • “Ask an Expert” Sessions [THESE HAVE CONCLUDED]: In addition to the recorded video lectures, case studies, and interviews, participants can join several optional live online sessions with expert lecturers to ask questions, hear updates, and engage directly with the experts and with each other.

    Who Should Participate:

    • Institutional investors who evaluate and engage with companies around AI governance;
    • Venture capital and private equity professionals engaged in due diligence of AI companies;
    • Board members of public and private companies that are exploring, using, deploying, or developing AI technologies;
    • Executives at public and private companies that are exploring, using, deploying, or developing AI technologies; and
    • Advisors to public and private companies that are exploring, using, deploying, or developing AI technologies.

    No prior knowledge or experience with AI technologies is required.

    Program Content:

    From Insight to Action: Advancing Enterprise AI Governance will:

    • Introduce and define key concepts in artificial intelligence and machine learning and explain how AI technologies work;
    • Explain why companies should care about AI, how AI can be used to drive revenue growth and cut costs, and how to get started with AI;
    • Explore legal and ethical risks associated with enterprise use of AI technologies;
    • Identify AI governance frameworks and risk mitigation practices;
    • Discuss key areas for due diligence that VC firms should prioritize with respect to AI companies or companies that are using or deploying AI technologies;
    • Provide tips for investors to more effectively engage with companies around responsible and ethical AI practices; and
    • Showcase a series of responsible AI case studies from leading organizations.

    MCLE: Four hours of California MCLE credit are available to participants who attest to completing all videos from the Legal & Ethical Risks and AI Governance modules, excluding the AI Risks & Opportunities by Industry videos, which are not required. Certification from other states may be sought; however, approved hours may vary. Contact your local bar for more information.
