Defensive Back University Helps Stanford Shortstops Play Baseball

by Larry Chiang on March 25, 2024

By Larry Chiang

People doubt that I am to be mentored by Stanford University undergrads

So in my Sunday league, baseball team, there’s a guy who never played D1 college baseball let alone competitive high school baseball. He mentored me by saying use the drop step to no longer drop pop-ups in shallow left field

You see mentorship can come in many different forms.

Drop step. Then, flip the hips. To no longer drops pop ups at shortstop when they’re hit into shallow left field

DBU

Drop Step.

Then, flip the hips

This is my mental mindset in attempting to listen to my new mentor in better catching infield pop ups.

✅ working on improving my foot work.

✅ drop stepping and then flipping the hips. Then run towards your spot.

This is right out of Stanford football. #DefensiveBackUniversity.
