Entrepreneur. Tactile. Execution. Pre Entrepreneurial Momentum

by Larry Chiang on January 9, 2013

THIS POST IS FOR MBA’s WITH AN ENGINEERING BACKGROUND

IF YOU DON’T HAVE THAT ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION, PLEASE LEAVE

By Larry Chiang

I get people momentum to execute. Here are things to pay attention to AS YOU TRANSITION FROM PRE-ENTREPRENEUR TO ENTREPRENEUR

-1- FOCUS but pay attention to patterns.

Pattern recognition you delegate to your mentor.

You pattern iterate and pattern replicate. These you must checklist execute. Almost like making a 35 step Guacamole recipe.

Google Gua Gua Guacamole.

-2- FOCUS but pay attention to barriers you erect.

Entrepreneurship is hard enough. Pay attention to when people erect barriers that are self imposed

Pay attention to execution of internal deliverables versus external deliverables.

-3- FOCUS but pay attention to who loses focus

Few can focus.

Most groups will have a person who digresses. Regresses. Diversifies. Just focus.

-4- FOCUS but pay attention to EUTWMPPM

It is a big, huge whopper. Google it.

-5- FOCUS and pay attention to TREASURE MAPS

Google Larry Chiang treasure maps

Treasure Mapping is visual goal setting in a physical space. Ideally, it is on a wall in your house. Ideally, it looks like more activity than an orgasm of evidence on a serial killers wall that we see in a movie.

BONUS Focus but get an entrepreneur ATC (google Larry Chiang air traffic controller)

Bonus!

Focus but when you do get a mentor, update them like a fedEx package.

Mentors who are VCs know that the majority of pre-entrepreneurs do not execute. Update their email box with an avalanche of updates
