Let Us Pop Our Business Cherry and Document it w/a Selfie and a Hashtag #cs183s

by Larry Chiang on October 20, 2015

By Larry Chiang

Do you remember when you got your first job.

Yup, many of you haven’t worked yet. But your Stanford professors are telling you to employ a 1000 people. And Blitz scale a beach pic.twitter.com/vI1NP8LK9X

Well, I’m aware of what you’re thinking. You’re thinking “Imposter Complex”

Well, Larry Chiang has just the cure for you.

Nope, I’m not giving you a faux job at my office.

I’m giving you something better. And real. #cs183s is the chance to pop your business cherry. After #cs183s, you won’t be a business virgin. After  #CS183s, you will have closed a real deal and done “work for hire”. Or similar.

Let me elaborate via 12 tweets how  #cs183s will pop our cherry…

Lec 10. The stock pump and dump 😉

Larry Chiang (@LarryChiang)
selling stock is a form of sales that tech founders in the 94025 LOVE. #cs183s‘ about selling for revenue twitter.com/ScottMAustin/s…

Realize that focus on  #cs183s helps because the general public is out there trying to sell stock to VCs.  #cs183s is about selling as a group of 2-5 CS majors that bank cash because selling and CS come together nearly never.

Let me repeat. CS is kinda hard
Sales is kinda hard.
Doing both is important. After a lil practice you realize
– CS is googling code at GitHub or stack
– sales is just mentoring someone really old and dumb  #cs183s
– Sales is about taking the risk away from a Fortune 500 exec and eliminating all risk

– Sales is about product and labor transfer with commensurate money transfer. In escrow.

Larry Chiang (@LarryChiang)
Lec 11; #cs183s. The other ten sales docs when inking deals with F500 execs blog.ycombinator.com/yc-open-source…

Sales is what the Wright Brothers did at #1127WestThirdStreet. They didn’t invent bicycles but sold them. They did take their profit and make up a major Yale did not have: Aerospace Engineering.

Wright Brothers first sale was the French War department. They did escrow in New York City. Lecture 12 is where you google
– #InternalEscrow
and
– #OneWayLetterOfIntent
