Austin’s 2015 “Student entrepreneurship acceleration and LAUNCH”

by Larry Chiang on May 15, 2015

Larry Chiang’s NY Times bestseller, “What They Don’t Teach You At Stanford Business School“, is a sequel to his mentor’s, Mark McCormack’s book, What They Don’t Teach You At Harvard Business School. What They Don’t Teach You At Stanford Business School quotes Mark McCormack’s book in every chapter and even launched at Mark McCormack’s, IMG’s, “New York Fashion Week”. As an engineering undergrad, Chiang used his mentor’s book, What They Don’t Teach You At Harvard Business School, to start Duck9, at Illini Tower. Duck9 helps students get a FICO credit card credit score over 750. Prior to the NY Fashion Week book launch party, Chiang did a Havard Law School keynote summed up by Harvard Business School as: “What They Don’t Teach You at Stanford Business School“. Harbus has an article written by Larry Chiang, “Lets win SXSW, this SXSW“.

“Fashion Week (Sept 10-20) is like #LeadGen in Las Vegas. Cuz they’re cool places to launch new deals.”

Student entrepreneurship accel ati.utexas.edu/SEAL/It’s a sequel prequel to #UTeWeek

Before Longhorn Startup (Fall seminar, CS 178 at UT), you will need to pre-study CS 178. As with so many things that are entrepreneurship, you’re going to have to

– Learn entrepreneurship as you go
– Lever what exists
– forge ahead without any of the resources you might need to have
– Moonlight by doing your summer internship. And a startup on-the-side!
– Get your base expenses covered with revenue in a startup that is really just a 2-way proprietorship
– Start Up “YOU Inc while you cover your base expenses
– Set a date to quit/sell your startup Sept 6 because CS is a tough major
