What Stanford Engineering Teaches Super Hot NY Supermodels

by Larry Chiang on September 5, 2012

By Larry Chiang

I am an old wily entrepreneur / VC

One trait I have is that I pattern recognize. Here at Stanford Engineering, (as maintenance engineer) I recognize that really hot women outside the Stanford bubble are in a similar pattern to the engineers INSIDE the bubble.

As I’m in the 99th percentile of hotness, I feel I’m qualified to pattern recognize:

-1- We both get food for free.

There is an info session with a tier one employer hosting at Tresidder. This is the kind of employer state school kids would sell their li’l brother into white slavery for… But we as hot women scoff at this. We don’t just want the hot dude with a 1% job. We want free food too

-2- We both get lured with gifts like iPad

Have you seen the awesome student produced conferences that private industry charges $3k for? SWIB, Knight Fellows, Hoover. Stanford Athletics all host awesome educational events.

Only inside the Stanford bubble do we need to further bribe people to come with promises of iPads.

-3- Thank you cards

Stanford bookstore sells thank you cards but according to the sku/UPC data, 90% is getting sold to a dude with a 60521 Oak Brook IL billing zip code.

Hot women in the real world dont say thank you and neither do Stanford engineers.

Pattern Replicate Three Things: -1- Be loyal and remember when someone helped you.

Tom Kosnik pulled me from a crowded speaker line-up in 2009 when I crash spoke a SWIB conference with blessing from Anna Kahn / Christine Lee after an intro from Lisa Falzone in 2008.

Be loyal and remember who helped you.

-2- Be respectful.

We aren’t in a caste system. Treat the maintenance engineer with the same courtesy as you would Hennessy

-3- Be uber thankful

We are in Silicon Valley! This town let’s cream rise.

When you’re at the top, thank the ones that got you there and pass along some mentorship downstream
