FYI
This week Vice President Joe Biden is meeting with senior Chinese, Japanese, and South Korean officials during a six-day trip to Asia. This is a long planned visit, and the White House is calling it a “capstone event” for the Obama administration’s year-long engagement with leaders in the region.
In addition to meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang, and Vice President Li Yuanchao, Biden also addressed the China-based American business community on the morning of Thursday, December 5.
The US-China Business Council (USCBC) was pleased to co-host this event in Beijing with several local chambers of commerce.

In advance of this trip, USCBC highlighted several priority issues for Vice President Biden to raise in his meetings with senior Chinese officials, including reducing market access barriers, such as China’s restrictions on foreign ownership in many sectors of its economy; the need for China to take a more constructive approach to concluding a new World Trade Organization Information Technology Agreement; and government-to-government engagement on cybersecurity to build trust and take cooperative measures in addressing commercial-focused cyber-attacks, regardless of the source.
