How to Fake Dropping Out of Engineering School

by Larry Chiang on June 15, 2013

How to Fake Dropping Out of Engineering School By Larry Chiang Dropping out is all the rage. I’m the guy who shows you ‘how to have your cake and eat it too”. I’m Larry Chiang and I’m street smart engineering like that. Ok, here is “How to Fake Dropping Out of Engineering School” while graduating that tier one engineering school on-time. -1- In ONE SUMMER, start and sell one entity. Start by announcing in May or March that beginning when summer starts, you’ll be dropping out for a year. Plan to just drop out for one summer. Set the goal to start and sell one company during that summer. Return to college in the fall. It helps if you… -2- Find two drop out buddies that are engineers also. Do you know how much more valuable a team of engineers are compared to solo engineers?? Scaled exponentially in value. You and your two buddies should start a lemonade stand business* ENGR 145 style** and sell it. Worst case scenario, you’re an aquisition-hire “Aqui-Hire” * Lemonade and Gua Gua Guacamole technique! https://bit.ly/buster14512v **My Stanford Engineering video boils down 20,000 hours and moves you to the right on the entrepreneur bell curve -3- Plan on making the highest GPA your first quarter back -4- Apply and get into YC Mid-Session -5- Teach ENGR 145 (the class you never took but mastered and executed). Teach ENGR 145 to MBA’s. I mean it’s the next, next class that they’ll teach MBAs about entrepreneurship. They got it from Stanford Engineering :-)) It’s where they teach the best entrepreneurship methods 😀 *My Stanford Engineering video boils down 20,000 hours and moves you to the right on the entrepreneur bell curve What A Super Model Can Teach a Harvard MBA About Credit https://www.slideshare.net/larrychiang/what-a-super-model-can-teach-a-harvard-mba-about-credit American Express’ Under-Promoted Credit Truths at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week (MBFW)” https://t.co/inxTmZAj CEO of Duck9 MIT University EIR (Entrepreneur in Residence) Duck9 = “Deep Underground Credit Knowledge” 9 125 University Avenue/ 100 Palo Alto CA 94301 https://www.duck9.com/ass 650-566-9600 650-566-9696 (direct) 650-283-8008 (cell) **************** Editor of the BusinessWeek Channel “What They Don’t Teach at Business School” https://whattheydontteachyouatstanfordbusinessschool.com/blog CNN Video Channel: https://ireport.cnn.com/people/larrychiang Read my last 10 tweets at https://www.Twitter.com/LarryChiang Author, NY Times Bestseller https://whattheydontteachyouatstanfordbusinessschool.com/blog/?s=Ny+times+bestseller “What They Will NEVER Teach You at Stanford Business School” comes out 11-11-14 https://www.fastcompany.com/embed/c0d4562ea2049 52 Cards.
