Stanford StartX Was Started by Undergrads With Significant Pressure from Administrators to NOT Start SSE Labs

First of all congrats StartX, Cameron Teitelman, Dan Ha, Tony Lai and team (Formerly SSE Labs)

Stanford University is incredibly entrepreneurially minded. But it had administrators go against a student run, independent 501(c)3: SSE Ventures.

They started SSE Labs which is now called StartX.

It leads me to ask how large of a barrier do administrators AT OTHER SCHOOLS put up that keep their students from starting up a StartX. I’ve witnessed first hand how open StartX staff has been to helping undergrads at other schools pattern replicating a StartX.

So far the StartX program has NOT been replicated at other engineering schools.
